Perceptive Software will host the third annual Dodge for a Cause charity dodgeball tournament, benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

SHAWNEE, KANSAS — (19 Feb 2008) Chances are you've dodged a lot of things during the last year – overlapping meetings, stacks of bills, dentist appointments, your in-laws. Now Perceptive Software invites you and a team of friends, coworkers, neighbors and dodgeball enthusiasts to dodge for a cause.

Registration is now open for the third annual Dodge for a Cause charity dodgeball tournament, benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), at www.dodgeforacause.com. On March 29-30 and April 5-6, 64 teams will compete for a chance to earn an automatic bid and registration into the 2008 National Amateur Dodgeball Association (NADA) Outdoor National Tournament in suburban Chicago, including free roundtrip airfare courtesy of Southwest Airlines and $1,000 for the trip. Dodge for a Cause will be held at Perceptive Software’s state-of-the-art headquarters, which features an NADA-approved dodgeball court.

“Perceptive Software is excited to host the third annual Dodge for a Cause tournament, a rewarding and enjoyable event for our team and the community,” said Scott Coons, Perceptive Software president and CEO. “Dodge for a Cause will raise more than $16,000 for the Kansas City Chapter of JDRF, helping in its quest to find a cure for diabetes and its complications,” added Coons.

All individuals 18 years and older are encouraged to assemble a team for a shot at the tournament championship and a trip to the national tournament. Registration is $250 per team, with all proceeds benefiting the Kansas City Chapter of JDRF, and each team is guaranteed three matches or a minimum of six games. Team prizes will be awarded for Best Uniforms, Best Team Name, Best Theme Song and Best Team Spirit.

“This is our third year to partner with our friends from Perceptive Software and we are grateful for their continued support of diabetes research,” said Yvonne Miller, Kansas City Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation executive director.
